WS_FTP

The FTP program is used to upload and download files between two computer systems, the client and the server.

The first time you open WS_FTP two windows will appear. The window on top is called "Session Profile."

  • The "Profile Name" box - This box will contain the name of the remote server you are connecting to. You can use the pop-up menu to choose the name, just click on the arrow. If you are adding a new name to this list it can be saved using the "save" button below this box.
  • The "Host Name" box - After choosing a name from the "Profile Name" box, this box is automatically filled in.
  • The "Host Type" box - The default for this box is "Automatic Detect." This is best left alone, unless specified by remote host.
  • The "User ID" box - If you are connecting to your StoneMedia site, then use your username. Otherwise, the default for this box is "Anonymous." This is best left alone, unless specified by remote host.
  • The "Password" box - Again, if you are connecting to your StoneMedia site, then use your StoneMedia password. If you are connecting to an anonymous site, then you need to type in your email address.
  • The "Account" box - This box should remain blank.
  • The "Remote Host" box - Unless you know the directory you'd wish to visit, this box should remain blank.
  • The "Local PC" box - This box can be filled in to point to the directory on your computer where you want downloads to be saved.
  • Now that the boxes are filled, click the Save password box and the Auto save config box, then click OK.
You are now connected to the remote host and are ready to upload or download.
